Hi, everyone! My name is John Truong, and I am a 3L from Wichita, Kansas. I graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in political science. Afterward, diploma in hand (or at least the diploma holder) and tassel moved from right to left, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I had to figure it out. I did, at KU Law.

I took an in-depth look at what I wanted. I was looking for happiness, for what would make me feel complete as a person and proud of myself. I enjoyed being challenged, to be pushed, to be changed, to grow through experiences and develop myself further. All of these aspects I found in law school.

KU Law allows me such freedom, through the support of its faculty and students. The school's wide range of programs and its alumni community make me comfortable knowing whatever it is I want to do in my legal career, KU can offer it to me. Through KU, I was able to participate in an international law moot court competition, being able to not only learn advanced skills, but also strengthen my interest in the field of law in which I want to practice. Through KU’s clinics and field placements, I worked alongside practicing lawyers at a district attorney’s office where I provided research for real cases.

It was a struggle to know what I wanted and where I could find it. I found my fit at KU Law, and I'm here for anyone who is still unsure where they belong.
